Volunteer Services FAQ

What should I wear? Front of House staff are asked to wear black pants and a white shirt. We provide Manluk Theatre vests to identify volunteer staff.

How long is a shift? Typically a volunteer shift is about 4 hours.

How do I find out about dates to volunteer? After you sign up, you will receive regular emails calling for volunteers. Volunteer opportunities will also be listed on the website.

What volunteer positions are available?

Ticket Taker – will collect tickets at the entrance to the theatre and assists with patron questions

Box Office Staff – will sell walk up tickets and/or provide will-call tickets for advance ticket purchasers. Money handling is required

Usher – will be knowledgeable of the seating plan and will assist patrons to find their seats; may also hand out programs and seat latecomers; will remain in the theatre during the performance to assist patrons who must leave during the performance

Concession – will assist with the sale of snacks and non-alcoholic beverages before the performance and during intermission. Handling money is required.

Bar - Bar staff must be 18 years of age and will serve alcoholic beverages to patrons before the performance and during intermission. Money handling is required. Proserve training is required.

Hosts– may act as greeters to assist patrons in wayfinding during events; Master of Ceremonies for open mic nights, concerts and plays

Security – may act as door security during concert events or facility mangers during private functions or events by rental clients

When is my shift over? Front-of-house volunteers are asked to assist with any clean up that may be required following the performance.

How do I access Proserve Training? The Proserve Training Program is provided by the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission and can be completed on-line.
